Children Ministry

The vision that fuels our work in Children’s Ministry grows out of Jesus’ words in Mark 10:14, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” In the midst of a consuming ministry to adults, Jesus regularly ministered to children.

In the face of twenty-first century challenges, the church must strengthen its commitment to reach every child and family possible, teach them effectively, win them to Christ as early as the Holy Spirit gives opportunity, disciple them, and empower them to be disciple makers. Children’s Ministry is here to assist with this critical task as the local children’s ministries coordinates a unified ministry that reaches out to unchurched children and meets the spiritual needs of children from birth to age 12.

We believe the future of the church depends on effective ministry to children today.

Church Of Our Saviour Children’s Ministry is connecting a new generation with Jesus Christ giving children HOPE and WHOLENESS and opportunities for worship and ministry.

Every Sunday we provide classes for children for both services.

Bereans

A Ministry to Baby Boomers
(Those born from 1946 to 1964)

We took our name from the community mentioned in Acts 17:10-13 “ 10 As soon as it was night, the brothers sent Paul and Silas away to Berea. On arriving there, they went to the Jewish synagogue. 11 Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. 12 Many of the Jews believed, as did also a number of prominent Greek women and many Greek men. 13 When the Jews in Thessalonica learned that Paul was preaching the word of God at Berea, they went there too, agitating the crowds and stirring them up.”

We aim at changing ourselves so as to change others and the world around us. As our Baby Boomers family grows “larger,” we need to find ways to become “smaller.” This is the purpose of the Bereans Ministry. It is designed to help people find places of involvement and growth where relationships are formed and strengthened, where people are introduced to Jesus, and where leaders are equipped for service. Our Group meets twice a month to empower members and to instill within ourselves the zeal to labor for the Lord.

Various sorts of activities are in the pipeline for 2007/2008. This ministry promises an eventful and fruitful time of fellowshipping and growing in the Lord.

Primetime

A Ministry for Retirees

Congratulations! You have retired! How wonderful that God has prepared so many people for so many years, and then freed them to do ministry at this crucial time! Have you considered spending part of your retirement years serving the Lord. Retirees are a major part of God’s plan for the world. How many are there? And growing! Just beginning to join the ranks of the retired are the first of the Baby Boomers–the ones born after World War II, from 1946 to 1964.

Retirees who are 60 or 70 may have another 10 or 20 years to give to ministries! It can be no accident that God has provided so many Christian retirees to help fulfill the Great Commission at this critical moment, when we need all our resources, because both the needs and the opportunities are greater than ever before in history!

Some of you may have a wealth of practical expertise, but have never developed ministry skills. How is God already using you in evangelism? Have you ever won anyone to the Lord? It is not too late! How would you rate your Bible knowledge? Your Bible study skills? Have you ever led evangelistic Bible studies–where all or most participants were not believers?

At Primetime we will equipped you be servant of the great High Priest. At Primetime you find friends that cares. At Primetime you will find fulfillment.

MISSION STATEMENT
We exist to reach and disciple youth in Christ, who through the local church will have an impact on their community.

We exist to provide a point of meeting where we can meet the needs of young adults in our area: to have fun; to have fellowship, to receive Christian teaching; to build and equip young people in their studies, prepare them for a bright future and to be relevant to their needs in the market place.

Besides having a mission statement, we’re also work on a Dream Statement.

Our Dream Statement: “We have a dream of a movement that feeds the hungry, that clothes the naked, that gives a cup of water to the thirsty, that visits the sick and the prisoner, that cares for the orphan and widow. We have a dream of a movement that cares for the future of every youth that they will be useful to society and nation. We have this notion of a Community of Believers where the idea of compassion, love, forgiveness, honor and dignity are not mere doctrines—rather, they are a way of life.”

It is a ministry of Church of our Saviour Abra. As at the moment we have 12 kids in the home. Plans are on the way to admit a few more kids. They are passionately taken care off by Pastor Delia and her husband Bing. The vision of House of Compassion is To Provide a safe, nurturing and Christ-centered environment for children. To offer a home for orphans and those children who have inadequate social and physical provision. To provide love and hope in a secure environment.

We believe that every child deserves a family. While in our home, the children receive comprehensive services that address their medical, educational, emotional, nutritional and spiritual needs.  Our staff members, house parents and child care workers strive to simulate family life in all aspects of the ministry.

CAGAYAN DE ORO’S STREET CHILDREN – IF YOU DO NOT TOUCH THEIR HEARTS TODAY, THEY WILL BREAK YOUR HEART TOMORROW.

“Let us not wary in doing good, for at a proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people” – Gal 6 : 9-10

Cagayan de Oro’s Street Children
A privilege to share God’s Love

In the Philippines today, countless of children lives on the streets. Most of them abandoned by their parents, these boys and girls fend for themselves by begging. Some become victims of child prostitution and drug abuse. They will grow up not knowing true love. They are the potential candidates for robberies and kidnapping.

The challenge facing us today is so great as in the following illustration:

A TRUE STORY
A delinquent kid kept giving problems to his teachers. One day, the principal dismissed the boy with a painful. “There’s the street. Go and never come back…”

He kept coming back to them, however … through the news. For his was a career of crime in robberies and killings few could compare in history. Lured to the Biograph Theatre in a trap, a rain of bullets felled him. That was July 2, 1934. he was 31 years old. His name John Herbert Dillinger, the most feared desperado of his time.

A newspaper showed only his feet in death. The caption: “These are the feet of John Dillinger!, who knows where these feet might have gone if someone had guided them aright”

There are two ways the world deals with street children. Ignore them or reach out to them.

FOR THOSE WHO CARES…
There is only one way to share God’s love by reaching out to them.

SAVIOUR’S SHELTER OF GRACE
AN INSTRUMENT OF GOD’S LOVE

TOUCHED BY THE CONDITION OF Cagayan de Oro’s street children, Shelter of Grace was formed to take care of twenty of them, both boys and girls. They receive regular nutritious meals, schooling, clothes, books and health care. They are loved and cared for and given the opportunity to know Jesus. A great start in life.

Shelter of Grace is equipped with a staff of trained dedicated Christian workers. The home is equipped with various facilities to cater for the needs of the children. Operational costs is heavy and there is a great need for the shelter of Grace to maintain and expand to reach out to rescue more street children.

THE ABANDONED CHILDREN NEEDS YOUR LOVE
We are God’s representative on this earth. Let us be mindful of Mathew 25, where the Lord spoke of those who fed Him, clothed Him, gave Him shelter and the righteous will say: “Lord, when did we do all of those things?” Jesus will reply “whenever you did to the least of these brothers of mine you did it to me.” We are His hands and His feet.
